Regular Classes and Activities

Krav Maga (contact combat) is a tactical self-defence system that was developed by Imi Lichtenfeld for the Israeli Defence Force. IKMF Krav Maga is a system widely taught in many countries around the world and through decades of military use, it evolved and developed so that it can also be used by civilians, bodyguards, and law enforcement agencies.

A basic principle of Krav Maga is to use the body's natural reaction and turn it to a HARD, DIRECT, and AGGRESSIVE action in response to a physical threat. We teach Civilian Krav Maga and we focus on situational awareness, threat avoidance & prevention, quick and direct neutralization of an attacker, controlled aggression, and quick escape.

Class schedule at the FilComm Centre: Mondays 6:30-8:00 PM and Satudays 8:30-10:00 AM. Call Gabriel Molina on 021 1483312 for more information.

From a group of WFSA pingpong players who were preparing for the annual labour weekend Pistang Pilipino tournament in 2016 we became a table tennis club under the WFSA umbrella. We are fortunate to inherit the pingpong tables from Pistang Pilipino 2016 and are keeping those in FilCom Centre where we continue to play on Tuesdays from 7:30 to 9:30PM. Our members skill levels vary from learner to competitive and anyone can join us. We are keen to teach and pass on what little we have in terms of knowledge of the game. Pingpong is such a great sport, so easy to learn but so hard to master. The ladder up is endless but no pressure if you just want to have fun hitting balls and picking them up of course:) We always have plenty of balls for drills btw.

Filifest Dance Group

The Filifest is a Wellington-based dance group that promotes Filipino culture in New Zealand through folk dances. Currently, we have more than 50 active members with mixture of children and adults, and of Filipinos and Pakeha.

We were established 2005 with the purpose of raising public awareness of Filipino culture and arts in New Zealand. We also want Filipinos, especially the children and youth, to understand their roots and be proud of their culture heritage and identity.

Since 2005 we held shows in Wellington, Hamilton, Rotorua and Auckland. We have performed at Te Papa, Dance Aotearoa New Zealand, Royal Academy of Dance Genee Awards fundraiser, New Zealand Parliament, Philippine Independence Day Celebrations and local multicultural events. We have played a key role in making the 2009 and 2013 Labour Weekend Filipino Annual Reunion a success.
